It is probably a drawing done at Aigues-Mortes, unless it was done on the occasion of regattas which Bazille liked to participate: "We have, with two of my friends, won a first prize at the regattas of Bougival", he says in a letter to his father of July 17, 1865.
In any case, the exercise was very fashionable at the time.
