In his introductory notes, Joubin gives this drawing the title "Etude pour les Baigneurs". Unlike the drawing Study for the Summer Scene, Bazille has given his motif a more precise form. The figures are in almost the same place as in the painting. This study reinforces the commonly held view that the landscape in the Summer Scene was added.
